Isiolo to partner with USAID in fast tracking county projects

This comes a few days after Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) pledged to fast track land governance program in Isiolo County .

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has initiated talks with USAID, in a bid to fast track projects to alleviate poverty and other challenges facing the county.

Speaking on Friday, Guyo said his administration is committed to collaborate with Non-Governmental Organisations to deliver services to the people of Isiolo.

"Isiolo County is facing a myriad of problems ranging from climate change, insecurity and poverty, we must work with partners to address them," he said.

The county has initiated talks USAID and FAO to develop strong partnerships with local communities, in order to fast track development projects.

These projects are aimed at improving the community’s lives with security, health, education and land sectors being top priorities.

The governor met with representatives from the USAID and various partners at Sarova Shaba in Isiolo.

Guyo was accompanied by his Deputy James Lowasa, CEC for Lands Yusuf Dahir among other officials.

The Governor called on partners to focus on programs that are geared towards alleviating poverty and improving livelihoods.

USAID Country mission director David Gosney said that they will work towards aligning their projects and programmes with the County Integrated Development Plan, so as to ensure synchronised service delivery to residents.

He hailed the County Government of Isiolo for closely working with USAID towards actualising their programs and activities.

"We have a strong working relation with Isiolo and we will maintain this relation in order to achieve and support the community," Gosney said.

This comes a few days after Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) pledged to fast track land governance program in Isiolo County .

The organisation said Isiolo will be cluster lead for Northern Kenya in terms of the support it will offer.
