The Military band on Friday received outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta with a song from his favourite music group, UB40.

He arrived at the Ulinzi Sports Complex where Kenya Defence Forces held their farewell to their Commander in Chief as he edged closer to vacating office.

“Oh Cherry oh, cherry oh, baby. Don't you know I'm in love with you? If you don't believe it's true, what else is there for me to do?...Look how long I've been waiting. For you to come right in. And now that we are together. Please make all my joys come over,” the band sang.

As the song played, Uhuru made a lap around the arena waving to the crowd.

The military also played UB40 song 'Red red wine' ss they bid farewell to Uhuru.

Known for his love for the UB40 music group, Uhuru has always attended the UB40 band concert whenever they come to Kenya.

Moi Forces Academy pupils also performed ‘Mr President’ commending him for the Standard Gauge Railway, peace within our borders and milestones in the health sector.

“Ten years is a long time working without a break. You have done your best, leadership is not easy, may God bless you,” they sang.

It is in line with the military traditions and customs to hold a farewell ceremony for the Commander-In-Chief of Defence Forces.

Next week Tuesday, President-elect William Ruto will be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president, succeeding Uhuru.
