The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights has congratulated president William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua on their win.

The commission's chairperson Roseline Odede said they are hopeful the new government will prioritise the fight for the rights of all Kenyans.

“Their election now carries greater legitimacy and credibility, and the KNCHR believes that the new government will remain true to the promotion and protection of the rights and freedoms of all Kenyan compatriots,” Odede said.

“KNCHR congratulates them upon affirmation of their election and assuming the responsible and high mission of leading all Kenyans for the next five years. We wish them well.”

Odede commended the Supreme Court for delivering its judgment within the set timelines and abiding by its constitutional mandate.

“We salute the Supreme Court for their good work and all Kenyans for maintaining peace and stability throughout the electoral period,” she said.

“To all Kenyans, may we individually and collectively be magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat.”
