Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has alleged that president Uhuru Kenyatta could have, all along, planned to hand over power to the president- elect William Ruto.

In a statement after the Supreme Court verdict upheld Ruto's win, Ngunyi appeared to suggest that President Uhuru did not do enough to ensure Azimio La Umoja flagbearer Raila Odinga wins the presidency.

"Maybe Raila was a decoy and Uhuru's plan all along was to hand over to Ruto. I say so because Uhuru acted sub-optimally in this election. He handed over his constituency to Ruto without a fight. Then he disabled the deep state. Was this the Kumi-Kumi" plan?" Ngunyi said.

The remarks come after the Supreme Court unanimously declared the election of Ruto valid.

Raila and six others had moved to the Supreme Court of Kenya to challenge the declaration of Ruto as President by the IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.

The court made the ruling on Monday after the hearing of cases came to an end on Friday.

The court ruled that the elections were free and fair and that the outgoing deputy president garnered the 50 plus one required for one to be declared president.
