Ruto: With God all things are possible

Supreme Court ruled that Ruto garnered 50 plus one required for one to be declared winner.

President-elect William Ruto has yet again attributed his victory to God.

In a statement after the Supreme Court upheld his presidential election, Ruto said his journey to the presidency is a testament to God's will.

"With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible," he tweeted.

The Supreme Court of Kenya on Monday confirmed the election of William Ruto as the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya.

Reading the verdict of the Supreme Court on Monday, Chief Justice Martha Koome said Ruto garnered 50 per cent plus one vote cast required for one to be announced the winner. 

On August 15, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto the President-elect after he defeated Raila and two other candidates in the poll on August 9.

Ruto had garnered 7.1m while Raila Odinga garnered 6.9m as declared by the IEBC.

However, his fierce competitor Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja One coalition rejected the results terming them "null and void" and promised a bruising battle at the Supreme Court.

He filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging  Ruto’s win but the petition was dismissed.
