The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee has postponed the start of the new Kenyan Premier League season for the second time in less than a month.

In a letter seen by the Star on Saturday, the head of secretariat Lindah Oguttu said that the competition will now begin on September 24 and not September 10 as earlier planned.

The Committee is on record having previously postponed the same competition from August 27 to September 10.

“Please note that the new season, which was scheduled to start on September 10, 2022, has been postponed to September 24,” the statement read in part.

“The said postponement has been occasioned by the ongoing player registration. As per our letter dated August 31, the deadline for registration was extended to September 7.

“The FKF Transition Committee will hold a pretty-season conference on September 9 before the start of the league.”

Oguttu further said they would roll out a mandatory nationwide exercise aimed at subjecting local match officials to a rigorous physical test.

“The Committee is planning for a possible Physical Endurance Test which, ideally, should be held before the end of the next season,” the statement concluded.
