A woman is on the run after she allegedly stabbed and killed her boyfriend in a fight in Nairobi’s Bahati estate.

James Mungai Wirura was found groaning in pain in a house after he had been stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police and witnesses say the deceased had quarrelled with his girlfriend only identified as Everline before it degenerated into a fight.

The woman picked up a kitchen knife, stabbed the man and fled the scene.

Police said they recovered the weapon and blood-soaked clothes as part of the evidence.

Preliminary findings have shown the victim had two stab wounds in the chest near the heart.

Nairobi police boss James Mugera said they are investigating the incident and are looking for a known suspect to face charges in connection with the murder.

The motive of the Saturday evening attack is yet to be known.

Elsewhere in Waithaka, police are investigating the murder of a 25-year-old man whose body was found lying in a pool of blood.

The deceased, Ian Gichoya Mamui, was found with a stab wound in the chest.

His sister who had gone to visit him found the body on the bed long after the incident had happened.

The door was open when she arrived.

A blood-stained knife was recovered from the scene. It is not yet clear who was behind the murder and the motive.

The bodies of the two victims were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

Meanwhile, a police officer is admitted to hospital in Nairobi after he was attacked and robbed of his valuables in an attack in the bus station area.

Constable Felix Nyachio of Rhamu police station in Mandera had arrived in Nairobi and alighted at the place when he was attacked.

He was robbed of his mobile phone and official identification documents.

Police say they have increased the deployment of undercover detectives in the city, as part of steps to destabilise criminal gangs that regroup after polls.
