Swedish Ambassador to Kenya Caroline Vicini on Thursday said that Governor Anne Waiguru is a good example and all the politicians should emulate her.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of Governor Waiguru at Kamiigua Youth Polytechnic in Kirinyaga County, she also congratulated her on her win.

''The reason I chose to come to this inauguration today while there are forty-five other governors being inaugurated is that Waiguru is an example for all the politicians in Kenya,  she has shown that female leadership is revolving and it gives something to the people and that is why you re-elected her,'' Vicini said.

She further congratulated Kenyans on upholding a peaceful election and remaining calm before, during and after the elections.

"Congratulations to you also because you are the ones creating Kenyans democracy, you did a wonderful job in this country and you did it peacefully with your heart and you choose leaders that will work for you," she said.

Forty-five governors on Thursday took the oath of office promising to make their glowing election pledges a reality that uplifts lives.

They promised people-centred development, lower cost of living, jobs, fiscal prudence and fighting corruption.

The swearing-in ceremonies with their deputies took place simultaneously across 45 counties following the August 9 general election.

The oaths were administered by judges of the High Court in line with Section 12 of the Assumption of the Office of Governor Act, 2019.

They also signed the Integrity Code in the presence of judicial and ethics and anti-corruption officers.

Two counties — Mombasa and Kakamega — will elect their governors on Monday after the IEBC postponed the polls  due to a mix-up in candidates’ details on the ballot papers.
