Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni has warned elected Members of Parliament against shifting their political allegiance.

Kioni, who lost his bid to retain his Ndaragwa parliamentary seat, said Jubilee MPs who defect will lose their seats.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Kioni condemned defections that have seen some Azimio MPs move to President-elect William Ruto's camp.

''Once you are elected in the place that you sought to be elected to and immediately you start shifting your position. Then without doubt you lack the leadership qualities that we were looking for,'' Kioni said.

He dismissed reports indicating that some of its members are moving to Ruto's camp as propaganda.

"Know that you risk losing your seat whether it's at the county assembly or parliamentary seat for the law provides that," he added.

The remarks by Kioni come after the UDM party, an affiliate of Azimio La Umoja, joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Outgoing Mandera governor and Senator-elect Ali Roba led his team in joining the Ruto camp.

UDM won two senate seats, two governor seats and 7 MPs. The numbers will serve as a huge boost to Ruto's parliamentary strength.

Ruto on Wednesday announced that out of 12 elected independent Members of Parliament, 10 have joined the Azimio La Umoja party.
