Two people have died in a grisly accident in the Kambiti area along the Meru-Nairobi highway.

Murang'a south Sub-county police commander Alexander Shikondi confirmed that two people lost their lives on the spot.

Shikondi said the accident occurred after a lorry's brakes failed as it was heading from Kenol along the Kenol-Sagana highway in the Kwa Muthike area.

Those dead are a 28-year-old lady and the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident.

The lorry then rammed into several other vehicles that were heading in the opposite direction.

An unknown number of students travelling in a public service vehicle that was involved in the accident also sustained injuries.

They were rushed to Murang'a Level five hospital
