Police assure of children safety as schools re-open

The disruptions on school opening day was due to the ongoing election process.

The National Police Service  has assured of the safety of school going children as they report back.

In a statement on Thursday, NPS says it  has not left nothing to chance and that their  traffic officers continue to intensify patrols and surveillance on the roads.

"NPS has left nothing to chance and our traffic officers continue to intensify patrols and surveillance on the roads.

"As schools enter the re-opening day today after the midterm break, we wish to assure the public of their safety and that of their children as they travel on public roads across the country," reads the statement further.

Magoha had in a statement clarified that students will no longer be required to report to school on Monday, as earlier communicated.

"I hereby convey the Government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of all Basic Education institutions with effect from Monday, 15th August 2022 until Thursday 18th August, 2022," the statement read.

Parents and guardians have been urged  to ensure that school children report back as directed by the ministry of education.
