The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has called on the person that will win the Kenyan election to reach out to the opponents for peace.

Speaking on Monday, NCIC chairman Samuel Kobia said the election was peaceful, adding that the two leaders should also forge a way of working together.

"We urge the winner to reach across the divide to make peace and forge a way forward... We ask for the runner to be dignified and treated with decorum," he said in a statement to the press.

Kobia commended leaders who have already conceded defeat, insisting that it is the way others should follow.

"We commended leaders who have accepted defeat peacefully and those who are seeking legal redress peacefully."

NCIC called on Kenyans to refrain from insulting one another as they appreciate the pain of losing.

The commission said that each individual's contribution matters in the peace process in the country.

"We all are brothers and sisters and Kenya needs us to remain so, no matter our political affiliations," Kobia said.
