Koome appoints judges to swear-in governors-elect

The appointment was in accordance with the Assumption of Office of Governor Act, 2019.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has appointed the judges and magistrates who will oversee the swearing-in of the governors-elect and deputy governors-elects into the office.

In a letter dated August 8, Koome said the appointment was in accordance with the Assumption of Office of Governor Act,2019.

"In that regard, I hereby appoint the Judges as per the schedule to conduct the swearing-in ceremony upon election and gazettement by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)," the letter reads.

The appointees include Justice Roselyn Aburili and Honorable Caroline Kabucho, who will swear in Nairobi Governor-elect and his deputy.

In Kisumu County, the process will be headed by Justice William Musyoka and Honorable Teresa Odero.

In Nakuru County, Justice Weldon Korir and Honorable Edna Nyaloti will be swearing in the new county boss.

Lady Justice Stella Mutuku and Honorable Emily Ominde have been assigned to Kiambu County.

Justice Robert Limo and Honorable James Mwaniki will swear in Makueni Governor-elect and his deputy.

Justice George Dulu and Honorable Martha Mutuku will conduct the process in Mombasa County even though its election is scheduled for August 23.

Lady Justice Olga Sewe and Honorable Joe Mkutu are for Kwale County.

In Kilifi County, Lady Justice Margaret Mwangi and Honorable Dennis Mtutu will oversee the handing over, while in  Tana River, it will be overseen by Justice John Onyiego and Honorable Leah Waigera.

Others include Lady Justice Rachael Nge'tich and Honorable Hezron Nyaberi (Garissa County) and, Justice Daniel Ogembo and Honorable Rosaline Aganyo (Wajir).

Justice Richard Mwongo and Honorable Lucy Mutai will swear in Isiolo Governor-elect and his deputy.
