Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has told off her opponent Purity Ngirici saying that intimidation and violence will not change the results.
Speaking to the media, Waiguru insisted that Kenya is a democratic country and that the will of the people should be respected.
"It is very unfortunate that as candidates we can resort to intimidation and violence because that doesn't change anything," she said on Thursday.
"If someone has won, they have won fairly and if they have lost, they have lost."
However, the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race has not been officially announced by the IEBC.
The governor cited areas where Ngirici had defeated her but did not challenge her victory.
She also said Ngirici should not only accept results when they work in her favour.
Waiguru claimed that Ngirici had goons block her on the way to one of the tallying centres.
Her allegations come hours after the Kirinyaga Woman representative accused IEBC officials of planning to alter the outcome of the gubernatorial results.
Ngirici said returning officer Geoffrey Gitobu allegedly colluded with her political rival Ann Waiguru to alter the outcome of the final tally.
Ngirici, who stormed the tallying centre while accompanied by her lawyer Ndegwa Njiru and a number of her supporters, claimed 6,000 votes had been inflated in the Gichugu constituency votes in favour of Waiguru.
An angry Ngirici said they have been undertaking a parallel tallying in which all the gubernatorial results from Ndia, Mwea and Kirinyaga central constituencies have aligned with the IEBC apart from those in Gichugu.
