The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has said that campaigns remain suspended in areas where elections were cancelled.
Speaking on Thursday, Commissioner Abdi Guliye said the situation in most areas was due to emergencies.
He added that the campaign period ended and the suspension remains in force.
Guliye noted that the elections in those areas will be held as soon as the current process is concluded.
"Campaigns have concluded, this was an eventuality arising from an emergency and therefore we have not opened up the campaign period. The suspension still applies because we will have the elections immediately we conclude the current process," he said.
The commission further asked Kenyans to be patient in the face of the panic and anxiety that has greeted the different figures displayed by media outlets.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said the commission would be make the final declaration after the forms the media and other stakeholders are relying on are verified.
“Don't panic over displayed results. Media houses opted to tally independently. Tallies vary because each is accessing the portal at different times, criteria and sequencing,” Chebukati said.
He maintained that the final announcement and declaration will be done by himself, as the returning officer for the presidential election.
“What may be happening at the media houses will be harmonized and will look similar,” the IEBC chairman said.
He said the commission was confident the process would not attract many challengers owing to the transparency of the same.
“We have gone to all lengths to ensure we build confidence on the process. For the first time we are seeing contestants concede defeat meaning each are satisfied with the process.”
