The National Police Service has asked Kenyans to vote and go home.

In a statement on Tuesday morning, NPS said their officers will provide adequate security during the voting exercise.

"In today's poll, after you have made your decision known at the ballot, we ask that you support our security efforts by waiting for the poll results at the comfort of your homes," the statement posted on Twitter said.

"Our dedicated officers at each polling centre will provide security, usher you into polling centres at the break of dawn, and lead you through designated poll areas. They will also guide you as you make your exit from the polling centres."

The police service said that officers have been trained on the same.

They also called on voters to allow the sick, pregnant women, disabled persons, and the elderly the convenience to make their poll decisions.

NPS gave toll-free numbers where they can be reached in case of emergencies, as well as the National Election Security Command Centre.
