UDA presidential candidate William Ruto has launched a scathing attack on the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition brigade for labelling itself as a team capable of fighting corruption.

Ruto claimed some of the Azimio leaders have questionable reputations as they have failed to provide answers to concerns raised on mega scandals.

He cited the Kemsa scandal which led to the loss of billions of shillings of public funds and which saw influential figures mentioned as key suspects.

He said despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's authorization of a three-week probe into the matter, the findings are yet to be made public.

"They pose as clean individuals capable of fighting corruption yet no feasible explanation has been given where the funds are stashed. It has been months past the authorized timeframe yet Kenyans are still waiting for answers."

"They know very well that they and their friends and relatives benefitted from the funds yet they are the first to pose as corrupt-free individuals."

Ruto further took a swipe at his competitor Raila Odinga saying he has no workable plan for the country, and as such is very unfit to run the country.

Speaking on Wednesday, the DP lashed out at Raila claiming he feared facing him in the presidential debate because he lacked a well-structured and workable manifesto for the country.

"He claimed he can't share the same platform with me because he knows his team has no agenda for the country. He feared to be put to task to explain their manifesto and that's the reason he boycotted the debate."

"If he feared to explain their agenda to the country, can he be trusted to fight corruption, terrorism and other hard pressing issues bedevilling the country?" he posed.

He further told off President Uhuru Kenyatta saying he is ungrateful and a traitor.

He said the president turned against him having assisted him to clinch the presidency for the past two terms.

He called him out for entertaining Raila whom he blamed for messing with the Jubilee administration and its big four agendas.

Ruto was speaking in Kerugoya stadium where hundreds of Kirinyaga residents braved the chilly morning weather to attend the final Kenya Kwanza mega public rally in the county.

He rallied Kirinyaga residents to vote for him overwhelmingly on Tuesday saying his team is ready to serve and transform the country.

His running mate Rigathi Gachagua told off the government for allegedly plotting to destabilize peace in Rift valley during the elections.

He claimed the government through interior principal secretary Karanja Kibicho has a hand in the distribution of hate speech leaflets within the region with the sole aim of creating tribal animosity.

"We know PS Karanja Kibicho is responsible for conspiring with the heads of security in Rift valley to circulate hate speech messages within the region so as to create tribal hostility as we head to the polls."

He warned that upon assumption of government, the Kenya kwanza administration would take legal action against senior officials who will be implicated in destabilizing the peace of the country during the polls.

Kibicho has before denied using the chiefs to manipulate the forthcoming elections.

National assembly speaker Justin Muturi also backed Ruto's claim that Uhuru is ungrateful.

He said it was unfortunate that he had preferred Raila to Ruto despite assuring Mt Kenya that he would throw his weight behind Ruto while campaigning in 2017.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro weighed in on the issue of chiefs being used to shape the 2022 race saying they have been compelled to campaign for Raila.

He maintained that chiefs and sub-chiefs should be non-partisan in political matters and should serve all Kenyans in accordance with the law.

His Starehe counterpart Charles Njagua urged the state to beef up security in Kisumu following the travel advisory issued by the American embassy to its citizens.

"We want to tell Kibicho and Matiang'i to tighten security in Kisumu as the American embassy has since expressed its concern over the possibility of demonstrations and eruption of chaos during the elections. We wonder why their attention is so much diverted to Rift valley yet there will be peace in the region."

Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru who was the host governor called on the resident to re-elect her based on her score card as she pledged to implement development-related projects across the county.
