Odede urged officers and security agencies to be more alert and ensure that the right to life is protected.

"The Commission also wishes to remind the organizers of political rallies and campaigns of their responsibility to carry out their activities in a conducive environment that ensures the safety of its supporters and members of the public," she added.

On June 29, a car belonging to Trans Nzoia governor candidate Chris Wamalwa hit and killed a woman, who was roasting maize by the roadside.

Her child, who was in her company,  sustained injuries and was rushed to Kiminini Cottage Hospital.

The driver also survived with bad injuries.

The vehicle was later burnt by an angry crowd in Kiminini, where Wamalwa is the incumbent MP.

On May 30, an accident involving a lorry full of supporters of an MP candidate in Sigor Constituency in West Pokot also lead to the death of a woman.

The lorry was carrying 120 supporters on their way to Sigor to witness their candidate present his certificates to the elections body, IEBC when it was involved in an accident at Lomut ward.

Six people were injured and the woman succumbed to her injuries on the way to Sigor Sub County Hospital.
