A retired President Uhuru Kenyatta or members of his family will not be spared in the war on corruption under the Azimio administration.

Speaking to BBC on Monday,  Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga said Kenyans should put faith in him as he will deal decisively with the vice should he ascend to power.

He said there will be no sacred cows under his regime regardless of their social status.

“If you find evidence linking him (Uhuru Kenyatta) or members of his family that you have exposed previously to corruption, what will you do?” Raila was asked.

“Nobody is indispensable in the war against corruption. So, we will deal with everybody equally,” Raila said.

He also said Uhuru may land an advisory role in his government should he win the August 9 polls.

However, he clarified that Uhuru will not play any active role in government.

“He can be an advisor, he can support the government in terms of things that they are doing particularly internationally.”

The ODM leader said the advisory role is as far as Uhuru will go despite being the chairman of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party.

He was, however, challenged that Uhuru recently said he would not be going anywhere after he leaves office.

“He is not leaving the country, I think that’s what he meant,” Raila said.

Debate on Uhuru staying and playing an active role in government at the end of his second term was first ignited by Cotu boss Francis Atwoli who said at 60 years, Uhuru would still be too young to retire.

Deputy President William Ruto and his allies have ridden on this statement and alleged that Uhuru endorsed Raila for the presidency to enable him continue ruling the country by proxy.
