A woman who allegedly threatened to kill her aunt by cutting her into pieces has been charged in a Kibera court.

Jane Mugure Wangui was charged before Kibera chief magistrate Ann Mwangi. She pleaded not guilty to a charge of threatening to commit murder.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person said she would kill Mary Wangari on June 20 in Amboseli area in Dagoretti within Nairobi county.

The court heard on Monday she tried to intimidate her aunt, saying "I will cut you into pieces and bury you alone."

According to court papers, the aunt had visited her elderly, ageing mother in Amboseli to drop off medication. The aunt's mother is the grandmother of the accused.

When Wangari arrived, she allegedly found Wangui verbally abusing her mother and told her to stop, according to court documents.

Wangui was outraged by her 'interference' and allegedly threatened to kill her.

The prosecution said when the aunt asked why she was abusing the elderly woman, Wangui turned violent and tried to attack her.

The accused woman is said to have called her aunt a prostitute and said she had been sleeping around.

Wangui denied the charges and said she was innocent.

Prosecutor Jeff Musyoka did not object to her release on bond.

The magistrate released the accused on Sh50,000 cash bail and a surety of the same amount.

The case will be mentioned in two weeks on July 12.
