Western Kenya leaders have pledged to deliver 90 per cent of the region's votes to Deputy President William Ruto's basket in the August 9, polls.

In a church service at ACK church ahead of their rally in Bukhungu Stadium, the leaders exuded confidence that the region will rally behind Ruto.

Led by Kenya Kwanza Alliance governor candidate Senator Cleophas Malala, the leaders said they will deliver more than 70 per cent set for them.

Malala reminded the DP that they are sure of delivering the votes and asked him to remember honouring the 30 per cent pledge he offered the Western region.

"As the people of the Western region, we are able to give more than 70 percent of the votes instead we shall deliver 90 per cent," Malala said at the church service that the DP also attended.

"As long as you do not disappoint in honouring your 30 percent to us."

The DP signed an agreement with Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi that entailed the two delivering 70 percent of Western Kenya votes for 30% share of government.

Wetangula who was part of the entourage said it is time for the region to shun ODM leader Raila Odinga.

He said they have supported him for years but he failed them when they needed him most.

"2007 2013 2017 we voted for Raila but he looks at us like instruments to play with. This time we hope you will see the benefits from the Kenya kwanza government. Dont put your votes in a wasted basket," he said.

He assured the Western Kenya people that their interests are well captured in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

"In Western when things were right Mumias sugar and Nzoia sugar sustained many lives but it's no longer that way," he added.

"We pray that God may remove all the huddles so that DP Ruto can take up the leadership of this country so that things can change for the better."
