IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati has sought to assure Kenyans that no names are missing in the voter registers as claimed by DP William Ruto.

While addressing the media at Bomas on Thursday, Chebukati said the one million names claimed to be missing are those of voters who applied for transfers.

"Those spreading rumors that the data register has been lost be informed that it is intact. There is no breach or form of interference on the systems that we use to maintain the register," he said.

"We shall account for each and every Kenyan who registered to vote."

This, he stated may have also occurred as a result of the degazzetement of some polling centres.

He said the commission will certify the final register and gazette it by June 9 and then it will be broken down in form of counties, constituency and wards.

He pointed out that the voter registers will be available for all electorates to check their details until seven days to the August 9 poll.

The IEBC chairman said the commission had registered some 22.5 million voters and the register was undergoing an audit by the international firm KPMG.

"Commission assures Kenyans that the data is intact and the ongoing processes is just to ensure the register is clean in readiness for the elections," he said.

Chebukati further said it will be a transparent process where everybody will be able to see where they will cast their votes.
