Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya has lost his father, the county communication team has confirmed.

County director of communication Daniel Nyasi said Mvurya's father Mgalla Mvurya died at home on Wednesday after a short illness at Mavirivirini village in Kinango sub-county.

Nyasi couldn't establish the exact cause of his demise but attributed his death to old age.

The family is currently doing the burial preparations.

The father is set to be buried on Thursday at noon in accordance with Islamic rites.

He died aged 83.

Various national and county leaders are expected to attend the burial.

Last year in August, Mvurya lost his mother Sada Mgalla. She died at the age of 75 years.

Sada succumbed to Oesophageal cancer.

A section of residents on social media has mourned Mvurya's father as a good man who brought up his children with great moral values.

In the morning governor, Mvurya graced the Kwale County Madaraka Day celebrations at Baraza Park in Matuga.

He thanked the Kwale residents for trusting him to be their leader and electing him for two consecutive terms.

He urged the residents to vote wisely and choose visionary and development-oriented leaders as he retires.
