Deputy President William Ruto has promised to build low-cost housing in Nakuru West and Nakuru East once elected to the office in the coming general election.

Speaking in Rhoda-Nakuru west during a trail of campaign rallies in Nakuru County, Ruto said that the two areas which are highly populated will be the first to benefit from the low-cost housing program by his government.

"I urge the people of Nakuru to vote for Senator Susan Kihika to be the next governor of Nakuru. I promise that I will support her so that we start low-cost housing in Nakuru West and Nakuru East," Ruto said.

On his part, Susan Kihika has welcomed the move saying it will help the people of Nakuru to live a dignified life, especially those who have been displaced by the surging waters of Lake Nakuru.

The water levels of Lake Nakuru have been rising, displacing thousands of residents who border the lake.

"The low-cost housing will greatly help the people of this area because most of them have been displaced by the waters of Lake Nakuru. The people have never been compensated by the KWS. We will make sure that these people are resettled and are living a dignified life" Kihika said.

She has also urged the deputy president to make sure that Itare Dam is completed so that it can solve the water problem.

The deputy president was accompanied by a host of leaders allied to Kenya Kwanza including the UDA deputy president nominee Rigathi Gachagua, Susan Kihika, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses wetangula, Moses Kuria, Ndindi Nyoro and Kimani Ichugwa.

Kiharu Mp Ndindi Nyoro on his part urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to stay away from the August 2022 election and leave Ruto and Former prime minister Raila Odinga to battle it out.

This follows reports that president Uhuru Kenyatta will in June start to campaign for the Azimio presidential Candidate Raila.

Ndindi however requested the president not fall into the trap of getting into campaigns so that he can retire in a dignified manner after the August elections.

"We have seen media reports that the president will start campaigning for the Azimio candidate in June. We urge the president not to fall into that trap and peacefully go home for retirement in peace," Nyoro said
