Kisumu West MP Olago Oluoch now claims DAP-K was a trap to block him from the August 9 polls.

Olago said he realized the plans and made a decision to ditch the Wafula Wamunyinyi party for Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG).

Speaking when he received MDG's nomination ticket in Nairobi, the seasoned lawmaker expressed confidence in winning the seat on his newfound party.

"I realized the party I joined was just a trap. In the 13th Parliament, Kisumu West Will be represented by MDG," Olago said.

He said he will rely on his close touch with the electorates to defend himself against the ODM wave in the region.

"As long as you are loyal to the voter, you will never be a sycophant," he added.

Olago will be facing off with Kisumu Woman Representative Rosa Buyu who will be flying the ODM flag.

The move comes barely two months after the third-term lawmaker ditched Ford Kenya on whose ticket he was elected on for Democratic Action Party (DAP-K).

Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma also joined the party led by Ugenya MP David Ochieng'.

Ranguma is bracing for an epic battle against Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o for Kisumu governor seat.
