Police are investigating an incident in which a man stabbed his brother to death after a quarrel over a lost chicken in Senyende village in Kakamega County.

Police are holding Bonventure Lumwachi, 37, after he stabbed and killed his younger brother Augustine, 35.

Bonventure is admitted to Kakamega County General Hospital in critical condition after he was attacked by irate villagers for stabbing his brother to death with a knife.

The suspect is reported to have killed his younger brother whom he accused of stealinghis chicken from his house.

Their relatives said the accused attacked his brother and stabbed him in the chest with a sharp knife after a quarrel over the whereabouts of the chicken.

The body of the deceased was taken to the local mortuary.

Shinyalu subcounty Police Commander Robert Makau said irate villagers attacked the suspect before he was rescued and taken to hospital.

“The suspect is undergoing treatment at the Kakamega County General Hospital. He will be charged with murder once he is discharged from the hospital,” said Makau.
