The Democratic Action Party of Kenya on Thursday issued direct tickets to various aspirants for the August 9 polls.
The governor seat aspirants who received direct tickets are Wycliffe Wangamati (Bungoma), Sam Ongeri (Kisii), Kenneth Marende (Vihiga), George Natembea (Trans Nzoia), Abi Latiff (Garissa), George Mwandemo (Taita Taveta) John Pesa (Migori) and Moses Mulomi (Busia).
The group received their tickets at the party's headquarters at Chui House, Nairobi.
Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito was also issued the direct nomination ticket. He will be defending his seat in the August 9, general elections.
Woman Representatives positions aspirants nominated Senator Naomi Shiyonga and Josephine Kulea were also handed the tickets.
The two will be vying for seats in Kakamega and Samburu counties respectively.
DAP-K chair Wafula Wamunyinyi, secretary-general Eseli Simiyu and Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa, who is also the party patron, were present.
On Tuesday, the party announced that it was going to issue nomination tickets to all unopposed candidates.
"Starting Thursday, we shall be issuing certificates to uncontested and Concensus candidates."
The party said that it received over 1000 applicants interested in the aforementioned seats.
They include 23 gubernatorial contestants, 370 applicants for MP positions, 740 MCA aspirants, and 23 applicants for Women Reps.
The party's nominations are expected to end on April 16.
