UDA National Elections Board has postponed the April 14 nominations in Nakuru Town West after what it calls unforeseen exigencies.

The nomination will now be conducted on April 19 alongside those of Nandi Hills constituency which were postponed after the death of an aspirant through a fatal road accident.

This comes amid concerns by some aspirants that a popular politician from the area was interfering with the nominations.

According to the aspirants, the said powerful UDA member was favouring some candidates which irked the other aspirants.

In a statement seen by the star, the aspirant had requested the party Elections Board chair, Anthony Mwaura to give special attention to Nakuru Town West nomination to mitigate a fallout due to interference.

"We demand that the UDA National Elections Board and party leadership, through the county returning officer, assure us that the election will be free and fair. They should also pay special attention to Nakuru county in the coming primaries," the statement read in part.

Other external factors such as infiltration by opponents to create a rift so that the unpopular candidate can get the seat have also been pointed out as a factor to consider during the nominations.

The person who will win the UDA nominations will face it out with the candidates who will be picked by the Azimio-One Kenya coalition from either ODM or Jubilee.

Nakuru Town West is one of the most cosmopolitan areas in Nakuru county, where almost all tribes are found.
