ODM leader and Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga made a mockery of Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders' claims that the state was to blame for the current fuel crisis.

In a tweet moments after the leaders finished delivering their statement at Deputy President William Ruto's Karen offices, Raila wondered what the fuss was all about.

"My brother Kalonzo Musyoka showed me something on his phone, in turn I showed the same to Martha Karua and Peter Kenneth. Kwani huko kanairo kuna story," Raila posed.

Raila and other Azimio luminaries were on Monday in their second day of campaigns in Turkana County.

Back in Nairobi, the Deputy President led other Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders in blaming cartels and the National Treasury for the current fuel crisis in the country.

The group accused the National Treasury of illegally diverting Sh39 billion from the Petroleum Development Fund meant for the fuel subsidy programme.

Ruto claimed the ministry diverted the monies to service debts and fund infrastructure projects without the approval of the National Assembly.

"Can the ministry list the import quotas that have been allocated to oil marketers over the last one year by name?" he posed.

An acute fuel crisis has gripped the country with long queues witnessed Monday at petrol stations countrywide.

The shortage was evident despite an assurance by the Kenya Pipeline Company that it had sufficient reserves in its depots countrywide.

Managing Director Macharia Irungu said on Saturday their global reserves were adequate to serve the region with more ships still docked at the port of Mombasa with more supplies.

Irungu said as at noon on Saturday, there were 69 million litres of super petrol, 94 million litres of diesel, more than 13 million litres of kerosene and over 23 million litres of jet fuel.

"Kenya Pipeline Company would like to confirm that there are ample stocks of petroleum products in our system throughout the country to demand," Irungu said.
