Nairobi Majority leader and Matopeni MCA Abdi Guyo on Monday lost four family members in a grisly road accident along the Isiolo-Meru road.

Speaking to the Star, Guyo confirmed the demise of the four family members.

He said those who died were his brother Hassan Borana, 43, his brother's wife Fatuma Hassan Borana, 39, their two kids Talasso Hassan Borana, 14 and Jamila Hassan, aged 10.

"The four family members passed on in the accident. They were my brother, his wife and their two kids," Guyo told the star.

The brother and the family were on their way back to Isiolo from Nairobi when the accident occurred.

According to a police report filed at Subuiga Police Station in Buuri East Sub County in Meru County, and seen by the Star, the car was being driven by Ibrahim.

It developed a right tyre defect while on the way resulting in him losing control of the vehicle.

The vehicle veered off the road and rammed into the fence. The four died on the spot.

The tragedy happened around 6:30 pm at Maili Saba Area along the Meru-Isiolo road.

Guyo was on his way to Nairobi from Isiolo and had met the brother on the way before the tragedy.

The Nairobi Majority leader described the demise of his relatives as a "huge blow" so much so that he was unable to divulge more.

The tragedy happened after Guyo had spent the weekend in Isiolo where he was endorsed for the governor seat by  Governor Mohamed Kuti who dropped his bid for him.

The Governor cited health reasons for not defending the seat.

Guyo had shown interest in the Embakasi Central seat before the Isiolo governor seat came calling.
