Covid 19: Kenya records 9 new cases, no death

The positivity rate is now at 0.3%.

Kenya has recorded nine new cases of Covid-19 on Monday from a sample of 3,255 tested over the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate is now at 0.3%. 

The death toll remained at 5,647 as no fatality was reported over the 24 hour period.

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said seven of the cases are Kenyans while two are foreigners, four are males and five are females. 

The youngest patient is a five-year-old child while the oldest is aged 62 years old.

The new infections pushed the total number of confirmed positive cases in Kenya to 323,383 out of 3,502,787 cumulative tests.

Eighteen patients recovered from respiratory illness, all of who were under Home-Based Care and Isolation.

The total recoveries now stand at 317,608 of whom 264,594  were under the Home-Based Care and Isolation while 53,014  were in health facilities countrywide. 

The Ministry of Health says 13 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 115 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

One patient among those in the hospital is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Three other patients are on supplemental oxygen in the general wards. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination status

As of March 27, a total of 17,535,200 vaccines had been administered across the country.

Of these, 16,049,239 doses have been administered to the adult population.

The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is12,331 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 8,365

The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is now at 29.6% per cent.
