Media personality Janet Mbugua has said that active politics is not for her at the moment.

She was responding to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's remarks that she had declined the offer to be her running mate in the Kiambu governor race.

Mbugua, however, said that she will be available to support quality service to the people of Kiambu and across the country.

"Indeed, active engagement in politics isn't for me at the moment. I remain available in support of quality service to the good people of Kiambu and all of Kenya, more so vulnerable women and girls," she said.

The former news anchor thanked Kuria for considering her for the position of deputy governor.

"Thanks, Moses Kuria for considering me capable to serve Kiambu County as Dep Gov."

On Thursday, MP Kuria said that the media personality had declined an offer to be his deputy in the Kiambu governor race.

According to Kuria, the former News anchor scored the highest marks in his search for a substantive DG but turned down the offer due to unforeseen emergencies.

"I am shattered. After scoring the highest marks in the talent search for Kiambu Deputy Governor, Janet Mbugua will not be taking up the job due to unforeseen personal emergencies that she has to attend to in the immediate term," he tweeted on Thursday.

The MP went on to say that he would find ways to utilise Mbugua's experience and capacity in the future, for the benefit of the county.

"I feel the loss. Janet is a huge inspiration for the youth, for professionals, for women and for young mothers of this country."

On March 9, Kuria asked interested female candidates to apply to be his running mate in the race for the Kiambu Governor seat.
