Allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have told off Deputy President William Ruto for claiming he personally designed Jubilee projects.

This even as they warned the UDA boss against insulting the handshake partners in his campaigns.

While campaigning in Nairobi on Friday, the Azimio la Umoja team said Ruto’s claims that he was involved in the execution of government projects is the reason why some projects have never been implemented.

“That is why the life is difficult because you designed the projects from your office in Karen,” former County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi said.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, described the DP as a pathological liar.

“Ruto’s claims that key development projects were conceived in his office are baseless and lacking the element of truth,” Ngunjiri said.

The MPs said the DP was cunningly trying to lay claim to Jubilee’s credentials for his political gains.

During a meeting with Kenya Private Sector Alliance at Kempinski hotel on Thursday, Ruto said he personally designed the government projects at his table in Karen.

The country’s second in command said he did this together with the then Transport Cabinet Secretary Michael Kamau and Principal Secretary John Mosonik.

At the Nairobi rally, the Azimio brigade warned Ruto of an outright war if he continues to insult their leaders.

Led by ODM Nairobi chairman George Aladwa and Nominated MP Maina Kamanda, the leaders accused the DP of persistently insulting the handshake partners.

“We want to warn you that this is the last time you are insulting Uhuru and Raila. If you continue, we will fight you,” former Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru said.

Elachi, who is eyeing Dagoretti North MP seat said the DP will face the wrath of the Raila and Uhuru supporters because of his continued insults.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina warned residents against electing the DP, saying doing so will make their lives more miserable.

“I want to plead with you, we have been lied to for a long time. It's high time we elect Raila to realise the real change we have been seeking,” he said.

ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna, said Raila will create jobs and turnaround the economy.

“Many people are sleeping hungry in Nairobi today. We want a leader who will reduce the price of Unga,” he said.

The Azimio brigade combed through Starehe and Kamukunji in their third day of the week-long campaign blitz in Nairobi.

Aladwa and Kamanda said they will sustain campaigns in the capital to ring-fence the two million plus votes for the Azimio leader.

“Nairobi is Baba’s stronghold. We are very lucky that we are going to have a president who has been an MP in Nairobi and therefore understands problems the residents face,” Kamanda said.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino held that Raila will dismantle land cartels that have been alleged to be behind the frequent infernos in Gikomba Market.

On Saturday, the team will traverse Embakasi West and Embakasi South  before holding a rally at Makongeni grounds in Makadara constituency.
