Education CS George Magoha has termed the concluded KCPE exercise as successfully after three busy days across the country.
The CS witnessed the close of the Social Studies paper during the conclusion of the KCPE 2021 examination at Old Kibera Primary School, Nairobi, on Wednesday.
The KCPE exams started on Monday, March 7.
A total of 1,225,693 candidates have sat the exam across 28,248 exam centres countrywide.
In his address to the press, the CS said that the ministry will stake stern action against the suspects.
“We have had a very smooth ride with exception of a few cases but as I said earlier, we are not going to laugh with anybody that dares,” Magoha said.
He said that the ministry has recorded three cases of attempted cheating during the exercise, including a school in Marsabit where the centre manager took an image of the paper before sharing it with others.
“He has now been arrested and he is in police custody and we are not going to have mercy with him because he had the choice to do that,” Magoha said.
Another incident was reported in Turkana County on day two of the exercise at Kadukili primary School, where a TSC member called Alex Wanyama was found in possession of a phone with a prepared answer sheet.
He was also arrested and is currently in police custody.
The CS said that another case was reported in Kiminini and the ministry is still investigating it.
