Rarieda MP Otiende Omollo has expressed his displeasure over DP William Ruto’s election rigging claims while on his tour of the US.

In an interview on KTN News on Tuesday, MP Omollo asked IEBC to summon the second in command to shed more light on the claims.

“When a high ranked candidate of that nature makes such claims, he must be summoned by IEBC,” said Omollo.

Omollo further noted that there is nothing wrong with having a parallel tallying center so that the election can be monitored closely.

“In the last elections, we had a parallel tallying center... Some of us at the constituency level can have a parallel tallying center even during nominations so that we can monitor,” said Omollo.

Last week, without mentioning President Uhuru Kenyatta by name, Ruto gave a detailed account of what he said in a grand scheme to force Kenyans into a pre-determined presidential election.

He regretted that while Kenya’s democracy remains robust with the ability to reject such machinations, it faces threats from intimidation and blackmail more so from the criminal justice system.

Ruto spoke just days after Uhuru endorsed ODM boss Raila Odinga for the presidency and publicly declared that he is in Azimio with his "mind, blood and heart".

But the DP said there was growing concern by many Kenyans about deliberate intrusion by agencies to try and manipulate decisions by people at different levels ahead of the general election.

“The good thing is that the people of Kenya have stood firm against any attempts to make decisions on their behalf,” Ruto said at the Karson Institute, Maryland, USA.
