Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa on Sunday stormed Ford Kenya’s Kiminini bedrock popularising his Democratic Action Party ( DAP K) and selling Raila Odinga's presidential bid.

Eugene led other political leaders at Kiminini Primary School where he unveiled DAP-K candidate Maurice Kakai Bisau, the immediate ICT and Infrastructure special secretary in Deputy President William Ruto’s office, choosing to vie in Kiminini.

The CS maintained that the Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila is best suited to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I urge the people of Trans Nzoia, Western Kenya and the country at large to make a wise decision on August 9. Choose a candidate who will help turn around our economy in addition to bringing lasting peace in this country," he said.

He took a swipe at the Kenya Kwanza Alliance for polarising the country through divisive statements aimed at causing political instability.

He was accompanied by Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong, former Rift Valley RC George Natembeya, Trans Nzoia county women representative Janet Nangabo, DAP-K Party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi , Lugari MP Ayub Savula and former Webuye MP Joash Wamang’oli among other politicians.

Nangabo electrified the crowd reminding them of the legendary Bukusu Prophet Elijah Masinde who said the Luhya leadership would come through Lake Victoria.

"The late Bukusu prophet Elijah Wanameme said the Luhya presidency would only come through the lake (Raila Odinga). It is only after Raila finishes his term that one of us will ascend to the leadership of this country," she said.

Bisau pledged to put in place a conducive environment for innovators and entrepreneurs to thrive in the constituency which he said had been neglected .

He promised to fully implement the policy of awarding the youth 30 per cent of the National government constituency development fund tenders and appoint youths to various committees.

“I believe strongly that we should make use of the energy of our youth who make up about 70 per cent of our population. This will minimize their going to Arab countries in search of employment," he said.

On his part, Natembeya gave the people of Trans nzoia a pledge of revitalising the maize sector through prioritising budgetary allocations to jump start the ailing maize sector under attack by cartels.

He further said he will inject more resources towards building and equipping modern health centres in each electoral ward in addition to setting aside funds for completion and equipping of the county teaching and referral hospital.
