Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has said his development record will get him reelected in August.

Barasa spoke after Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa vouched for a DAP-K candidate to run against him in the forthcoming elections.

"Kimilili residents trusted me and gave me an opportunity to serve them and in the first five years I have been in office I have impressed them," said Barasa.

"I am not like other MPs who went to the National Assembly and slept. I want to pledge that if given another chance to serve I will take Kimilili to the next level."

So far Wamalwa has not settled on a candidate who will face Barasa in the August polls.

While handing over Sh800,000 to aid in the purchase of land in Lwanda secondary school in Kimilili, Barasa said Wamalwa has failed Bungoma residents and western region at large.

"Wamalwa has been in power for a very long time, Kimilili people wanted access to clean water when he was still serving in that docket but to date our people still face the same problem," he said.

The Tanga tanga MP  rubbished the DAP-K saying it was formed to divide the Luhya vote.

However, Barasa said with the entrance of Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula his counterpart ANC Musalia Mudavadi into the Kenya Kwanza Alliance the region is locked up for Deputy President William Ruto.

"Let truth be told DAP-K is a young party that cannot compete with a national party like UDA, ANC and Ford Kenya, I want to tell my good friend Wamalwa to stop lying that he will make it with his village party," he said.

Barasa urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to retire in peace and stop imposing leaders but instead allow Kenyans to choose the leader they want.

"We are the ones who formed the Jubilee government, but since Raila came in we ditched it and formed UDA that will continue Uhuru's development projects," he said.
