Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has finally commented on the rumours being spread on social media that he is warming up to join Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

On Friday, Oparanya who is also the ODM party deputy leader said that he spent the day attending ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Presidential Campaign Board meeting in Nairobi.

“I urge Azimio supporters to ignore propaganda being spread my detractors who are uncomfortable with Azimio wave sweeping the country and my firm stand behind Baba's bid for the presidency,” Oparanya said.

Oparanya has been the key figure in Azimio's success in wooing western residents to support Raila in his race for State House.

On Monday, Oparanya said that a team of experts had already drafted the agreement and will take the committee through the document for either addition or subtraction.

“Other Azimio parties are doing the same,” Oparanya told a meeting attended by aspirants seeking various elective seats from Western in Kakamega.

Oparanya said there is no coalition agreement between ODM, Jubilee, Development Action Party (DAP-K), and other Azimio-friendly parties at the moment.

He is a member of ODM's central management committee.

The governor, who is serving his last term has also been involved in the party's negotiation with other parties to form a coalition ahead of the August 9 election.

The propaganda about him was accelerated by his absence in the Vihiga rally where a number of party leaders attended, including Mombasa governor Hassan Joho.

Since ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula moved to William Ruto's side, a number of MPs from the region have moved to Azimio.
