Deputy President William Ruto is this Saturday continuing with his charm offensive in the Coast region.

Ruto will lead Kenya Kwanza Alliance in a series of campaign rallies in Mombasa and Kwale counties after holding similar events in Taita Taveta and Kilifi Counties on Friday.

Among the leaders expected to accompany him at the rallies are Kenya Kwanza Alliance principals ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula.

Local leaders who will host the group are Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar.

The leaders are expected to sell their bottom-up economic model which advocates for the need to allocate resources at the grassroots level to spur up the development and economy of the country.

But as the DP’s proceed with his campaign, his fierce competitor ODM leader Raila Odinga is on a 10-days break from campaign rallies.

The ODM Chief travelled out of the country on Friday to Addis Ababa.

Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango in a statement on Friday said the former Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the African Union's 35th Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The two-day event will take place from February 5 to 6.

"In his capacity as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, Mr Odinga will hold Infrastructure related events and meetings on the sidelines of the Summit," Onyango said in the statement.

From Addis, he is expected to proceed to India for other private businesses before returning to Nairobi.
