'Friendly, jovial': Ruto mourns Harambee Stars fan Isaac Juma

Deputy President William Ruto has mourned Veteran Harambee Stars, AFC Leopards fan Isaac Juma.

Juma died following an attack by an assailant at his home in Mumias, Kakamega County.

Police have since said they have arrested a suspect over the attack.

"We are heartbroken by the loss of the ever-present AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars longstanding fan Isaac Juma. He was a friendly, ever jovial and passionate soccer supporter," Ruto said.

"Our thoughts are with the family and soccer fraternity during this painful time. Rest In Peace, Juma."

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said he had learnt with profound shock and sadness of Juma.

"Juma was a devoted and entertaining football enthusiast who graced many sporting activities in the county and entire country," he said.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala said he was saddened to have woken up to the news that soccer has lost one of its most loyal fans.

"He was a dominant figure in each of my annual Cleo Malalah Super Cup. On behalf of my family and the people of Kakamega, I express my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. RIP Juma," he said.

Juma was a passionate football lover and religiously supported the national team, Harambee Stars. He also supported AFC Leopards.

Western Regional police boss Peris Muthoni said they are interrogating the suspect for more information.

“We have a suspect over the murder to know more,” she said.
