Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has said he does not need anyone's permission to support ODM Party leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

Speaking in Kisumu on Thursday, Matiang’i said he takes his cue from the president.

The president has hinted at supporting Raila's candidature.

“We are one and we have talked and agreed that Raila will be our leader. We will stand together as the people of Nyanza,” Matiang'i said.

“Is there a problem when I say that? I have not asked for permission from anyone. Uhuru has given me the job. It is logical that I queue where the president is queuing since I am his CS.”

Matiang’i drummed up support for Raila, saying that Kenyans should not elect those who lie to them.

“Let's not listen to people running their mouths saying there are no jobs and that they will bring this and that. They are pretending.. they are about to say that they are the ones who gave birth to your children,” he said.

“Lets be very honest and stop the hypocrisy and pretence. That there are some things that we can talk about and others that we can’t.”

Earlier, Matiang'i was installed as a member of the Nyakach clan.

Matiang'i was installed by elders on Thursday.

“The ceremony will begin with you seated on a three-legged seat so that your leadership lasts for years and years,” an elder was heard saying.

"Son of Nyakach, a great honour bestowed on me by the elders of Nyakach today during the operationalisation of the newly formed Central Nyakach division in Kisumu," Matiang'i tweeted.

Matiang’i has openly declared support fore ODM party leader Raila Odinga, saying the majority of Kenyans are with the president and Raila.
