Former speaker Beatrice Elachi has rubbished claims that she did plastic surgery on her face.

During an impeachment motion against her in 2018, it was alleged that she had spent Sh1.5 million, public funds, on travel to the US for plastic and knee surgery as evidenced by claims from CIC Insurance.

But speaking in Naivasha on Saturday, Elachi said she has never had any surgery on her face.

"Media said that I did plastic surgery...it is wrong to defame someone. I have never done plastic surgery on my face," she said.

"How do we change these matters of fake news? You must balance and verify. Don't allow us to go to alternative media."

During her impeachment, the assembly claimed that the former Speaker also did a knee surgery by using public funds.

She explained that the assembly was operating on a witch-hunt mode, accusing her of all sorts of alleged illegalities.

“Never has it been on record that I stole money while I was the Speaker. Everything I did is on record and It was not Elachi as a person but as the chairperson of the county assembly board. This is pure malice,” Elachi added.
