Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed has disbanded the Football Kenya Federation and appointed a caretaker committee.

The committee which will run football affairs in the country for six months is chaired by retired judge Aaron Ringera.

On Thursday morning, the CS received an audit report from Sports Registrar Rose Wasike leading to the disbandment.

Earlier, a senate committee summoned Amina for failing to appear before the panel.

The CS had been invited to appear before the labour and social welfare committee on Thursday to explain the decision to order for an audit of FKF accounts.

However, Amina failed to show up.

Instead, she sent a letter to speaker Kenneth Lusaka on Tuesday, seeking postponement of the meeting by seven days.

In her letter, the CA said she was scheduled to receive the FKF inspection report on Thursday thus needed time to scrutinise and understand the contents of the report before she appears before the panel.

"It will therefore be more prudent to have the meeting after the report has been officially received and can be shared with the esteemed committee," the letter reads in part.

The letter and the CS's no show triggered bitter reaction from the members of the committee chaired by Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja.

They accused the CS treating the committee, and Parliament in general, with contempt.

"I want to direct as follows; that summons be issued to CS Amina Mohammed to appear before this committee on Tuesday at 10am," Sakaja said.
