Ruto bashes Raila on constituencies says BBI is fraudulent

"Don't try to blame anyone on BBI, it was God who made it stop! Who are you blaming?"

In Summary

•Ruto said Kenyans must not entertain the politics of hate from their leaders.

•“The foundation of the unity pact we had in Nakuru sometimes back remains solid and unshakeable,” he noted.

DP William Ruto has called out ODM party leader Raila Odinga asking him to stop lying to Kenyans about constituencies.

"If genuinely you wanted extra constituencies you should have constituted the IEBC on time. You should have given them money to delineate constituency," he said.

Raila has always championed for the constituency increment that was advanced in the BBI.

According to the Constitution, there shall be 290 constituencies for the purposes of the election of the members of the National Assembly.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission shall review the names and boundaries of constituencies. The Commission shall also review the number, names and boundaries of wards periodically.

Speaking in Nakuru on Saturday, Ruto said the Building Bridges Initiative failed because it was a fraud.

"It was a fraudulent, unconstitutional null and void. It does not deserve any mention in Kenya," Ruto said.

"Stop lying to Kenyans, where were you(Raila) for four years after the handshake? You wanted to lie to us thinking we are fools?".

He said shortcuts were employed in the process so that positions can be created for a few people leaving out a majority.

“We must tell off these BBI proponents. They must stop the conmanship; you do not need an unconstitutional process to advance a constitutional review,” he said.

"Don't try to blame anyone on BBI, it was God who made it stop! Who are you blaming?"

Ruto said Kenyans must not entertain the politics of hate from their leaders.

“The foundation of the unity pact we had in Nakuru sometimes back remains solid and unshakeable,” he noted.

He said he was committed to furthering the stability of the country, and change the course of its politics to one that is anchored on the empowerment of millions of ordinary people.

Former majority leader Adan Duale who was present said they would not allow the president to leave Kenya disintegrated.

“You have to unite Kenyans further but we will not go down the route of being divided,” he said.

"We will not allow you and Raila to take us to the root of ethnic hate and division."

In March, division rocked a parliamentary team on the BBI Bill after allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila  clashed over the proposed new 70 constituencies.
