Kiunjuri, Karua meet section of Jubilee over Mt Kenya politics

Three weeks ago, Karua and Kiunjuri held a meeting with seven parties from Mt Kenya and declared to unite the people.

Jubilee party leaders from the Mt Kenya region on Monday held a meeting with TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Narc-Kenya's Martha Karua.

Taking to social media without revealing details of the meeting, Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege said, “Having a cup of tea with TSP Party leader Hon Mwangi Kiunjuri, Narc Kenya Party Leader Hon Martha Karua, and my colleagues this morning."

Among the parties that they signed pre-election pacts with include Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti (Rebuild and Restore Party), Esau Kioni of the Democratic Party (DP), Mpuru Apuri (National Ordinary People Empowerment Union, NOPEU), and Thuo Mathenge (The New Democrats).

Others included the People’s Party of Kenya(PPK), Party of Democratic Unity(PDU) as well as Chama cha Kazi (CCK).

TSP organizing secretary Karungo Wa Thangw'a  has told the Star that the leaders those who attended the meeting welcomed plans to unite Mt Kenya leaders.

He said that, Mount Kenya leaders drawn from all parties including UDA will also be invited for their meeting.

Karung'o said that Kiunjuri and Karua are reaching out to all leaders from the region irrespective of the party they support.

He said the matter of who becomes their preferred candidate is not a priority at the moment.

“We are now moving in the right direction. Unity is key, “he said.

Also taking to his social media, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria claimed that the Jubilee party can’t rise again ahead of 2022.

“Rest in Peace Jubilee Party. You shall never arise even on resurrection day. Good to see your orphans looking for adopters and shelter,” Kuria posted.

Kuria didn't attend the meeting.
