Deputy President William Ruto has said there is no retreat or surrender in the journey to liberate Kenya.
Speaking on Sunday when he attended a church service at Mbiriri Full Gospel Churches of Kenya in Kieni, Nyeri county, the DP said Kenya needs to plan for millions of ordinary citizens to help them climb up the economic ladder.
Ruto insisted that this will only be achieved through the bottom-up economic model.
“I want to assure them that the journey to the liberation of this country so that we can first attend and plan for the ordinary citizen, the jobless, people who run small business, the many farmers who are struggling; that journey to ensure Kenya is changed and millions of citizens have an opportunity to climb the economic ladder, there is no retreat and there’s no surrender. We are marching forward,” he said.
The second in command added that there’s nothing his detractors will do that will stop him because he believes in God.
Ruto noted that he will prioritise the welfare of the jobless if he wins the 2022 election, instead of positions for leaders.
“Liwe liwalo wafunge barabara, wafunge twende kanisani, haturudi nyuma na hatubandiki. Haya mambo madogo madogo wanajaribu hayawezi kutuzuia na tuko na imani Mungu atatatusaidia tuinue wanyonge,” the DP said.
This translates to, “Come what may, they can stop us from going to church but that will not deter us... The petty things they are trying to do will not stop us because God will help us lift the lives the weak.”
Ruto was accompanied by MPs allied to him including; senator Susan Kihika (Nakuru), Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu) and Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) among others.
