Inspector-General of Police, Hilary Mutyambai has said that security has been beefed up in Kitengela over increased cases of insecurity in the area.
According to Mutyambai, they have round the clock police on patrol in the area that has recently become a hotbed of abductions and murders.
The IG who was responding to questions asked by concerned Kenyans on what action has been taken to control the situation through his Twitter interactive session #EngageTheIG also called on members of the public to report any unusual activities they spot.

"We also have an elaborate anti-agency team comprised of a special crime prevention unit that deals with homicides," Mutyambai said.
During the session, another Twitter user asked, "Strategies to curb the issue of disappearing and defiling of children have reached what point?"
Mutyambai stated that the National Police Service has a Child Protection Unit that handles matters to do with children under the DCI and are also working closely with communities to stop the same.
"We have also deployed officers in various parts to heighten security but another strategy is to engage the leaders under community policing," the IG said.
The latest cases of the Kitengela abductions include that of eight-year-old Shantel Nzembi who went missing on May 31 from her home in Ashut area in Kitengela and her body was found dumped at Orata, Noonkopir, the following Monday.
A postmortem conducted on the body of Shantel Nzembi by Government pathologist Johansen Odour revealed that she died from suffocation by blockage of the mouth and nose.
Four suspects; Livingstone Makacha, Francis Mbuthia, Nativity Mutindi and Patrick Mureithi have so far been arraigned in court in connection with the murder.
In April, four friends, Elijah Obuong, Jack Anyango, Benjamin Imbai and Brian Oduor went missing after a lunch meeting in Kitengela.
Imbai and Obuong's bodies were later discovered in Gatundu North Forest and River Mathioya. Anyango's and Oduor's bodies are yet to be found.
Mutyambai added that they have a special anti-mugging squad that handles robbery with violence incidents including the ones that involve boda boda riders.
He noted that they have also been engaging the operators through a sensitisation program dubbed Usalama barabarani on abiding by the rule of law.
