Kenya records four deaths, 442 new virus cases

The number of fatalities in the country has risen to 755.

Kenya on Friday recorded 442 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country's total to 40,620, Health CAS Rashid Aman has confirmed.

This was from a sample of 5,327 tested in the last 24 hours. Cumulative tests done so far stands at 580,039. 

From the cases, 419 were Kenyans while 23 were foreigners.

 
 

The number of fatalities rose to 755 after another four patients succumbed to the virus.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing from Uasin Gishu county, Aman said age-wise, the youngest is a three-year-old infant while the oldest is 86 years old. 

Another 166 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 30,876.

A total of 140 of those discharged are from the home-based programme, while 26 were discharged from various health facilities.

For the first time, Nakuru takes the lead of coronavirus positives in a day recording 94 cases.

Other counties with new cases include; Nairobi with 80 cases, Mombasa 47, Embu 20, Kisumu 20, Meru 15, Garissa 12, Kajiado 11, Kericho 10, Kwale 2 and Bungoma 1.
