Rain expected to intensify in some parts of the country- Met

Strong southerly winds of more than 25 knots are expected over the eastern sector.

• Most areas in the Northeast, the coastal strip, and the southeast lowlands are likely to remain dry.

• Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta are likely to record sunny and nights partly cloudy throughout the forecast period.

The weather weekly forecast from the meteorological department says parts of the country particularly are likely to continue receiving rainfall for the next seven days.

These include the areas within the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central and South Rift Valley and the Northwest.

Some areas including Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia are expected to experience sunny mornings.

 
 

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi and some parts of the Southeast Lowlands and the Central and South Rift Valley are likely to experience occasional cool and cloudy conditions.

Most areas in the Northeast, the coastal strip and the southeast lowlands are likely to remain dry.

Northeastern region (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo)is likely to have sunny and nights partly cloudy throughout the forecast period.

Occasional evening showers may occur over a few places at the beginning of the forecast period.

Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta are likely to record sunny and nights partly cloudy throughout the forecast period.

Areas in the Northwestern (Turkana, West Pokot and Samburu) will receive morning rains and afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places throughout the forecast period.

The weatherman has further said strong southerly winds of more than 25 knots (12.9m/s) are expected over the eastern sector of the country.

 
 

In its last forecast period between 3-9 August, rainfall continued to be recorded over several parts of the country.
