The Ford Kenya leadership tussle has been declared a dispute by the Registrar of Political Parties.

In a letter to the party, dated Wednesday June 10, 2020, the Registrar Ann Nderitu said the members of the party should resolve the row internally.

"The office verified the documents and other filed records and noted among other issues that two national executive Council meetings were held simultaneously. Some NEC members purportedly attended the two meetings on the same day," she said.

"The party is hereby guided to resolve the matter at hand in line with the provision of Ford Kenya Party Constitution."

Nderitu said that in the event that the matter is not resolved in accordance with the party constitution, any aggrieved persons will be at liberty to invoke the dispute resolution mechanisms.

"By a copy of this letter the filed documents are hereby forwarded to the secretary general for information and appropriate action," she said.

Last week, the registrar failed to effect changes to the party leadership after the warring factions separately filed documents at the registrar as the bona fide party members.

One group led by Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu notified the registrar of a special National Executive Council meeting that replaced party leader Moses Wetangula.

Later, Wetangula team also presented their documents replacing Eseli with Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa as the party’s new secretary general.

However, the papers filed by Wamunyinyi-led faction had gaps as the statutory form PP7 was not properly signed by the authorised officials.

The team trooped back to the registrar’s office on Friday with a new form that appears to have convinced Nderitu to gazette the changes.
